VERY NEARLY ALMOST MAG #10 Another format change to a larger size was more than justified with the cover artist – the one and only D*Face. Issue 10 marked the ‘second phase’ of VNA and was the first to feature the limited edition screen-printed covers. What happened next was a bit of a blur…huge queue outside the gallery, a magazine sold out in under an hour. The regular edition contained the same goodness as the limited edition, with a major profile of the cover artist discussing the evolution of his art and his punchy pop graphic style. We also talked hitting the streets, Pictures on Walls and setting up the gallery spaces Outside Institute and then StolenSpace. Issue 10 also contained interviews with Dalek and Delta artists who share a common aesthetic, coming from graffiti backgrounds and having moved seamlessly into the gallery and fine art world. Graffiti heavyweight Shok1 talked to VNA on the early days of the UK scene, the notion of ‘selling out’ and his now trademark dark, twisted style. To mix things up the issue also contained illustrator Jess Douglas and London-based shoe customiser Nash Money.
